Sauer Receives CCHA Goaltender of the Week Recognition

FARMINGTON HILLS, Mich. -- Sophomore goalie Billy Sauer (Walworth, N.Y.) of the University of Michigan ice hockey team has been named CCHA Goaltender of the Week, the league announced Monday (Nov. 20).

This is Sauer's first career CCHA award. So far this season, he is 9-3-0 with a 2.98 goals against average and a .900 save percentage.
The No. 7-ranked Wolverines battle No. 6 Michigan State on Tuesday (Nov. 21) at Yost Ice Arena at 7:35 p.m. Later this week, the Maize and Blue will partake in the 14th annual College Hockey Showcase, featuring contests against Wisconsin (Nov. 24) and No. 1 Minnesota (Nov. 25).

Sauer
Sauer earned the honor after stopping 66 of the 69 shots he faced during Michigan's road sweep against Ferris State last weekend (Nov. 17-18).
In Fridays (Nov. 17) 3-2 win over the Bulldogs, the netminder made 33 saves, including 19 in the third period to match his career period best. On Saturday (Nov. 18) he again stopped 33 shots, as the Wolverines triumphed 5-1. Sauer earned third-star honors each night.This is Sauer's first career CCHA award.
