PARK RIDGE, Ill. -- Sophomore forward Melissa Dobbyn (Livonia, Mich./Stevenson) of the University of Michigan women's soccer team was named the Big Ten Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday (Sept. 26). This is the first time Dobbyn has garnered the award in her career. Dobbyn earned the award after a spectacular weekend in which she recorded two goals and one assist in a 4-2 win against Ohio State on Friday (Sept. 23) and added two more goals, including the game-winner, in a 3-2 victory at Oakland on Sunday (Sept. 25).

Dobbyn then led the Wolverines over the Grizzlies on the road with two second-half goals. Her goal at 47:37 put Michigan in the lead 2-1. Just over five minutes after Oakland tied the game, Dobbyn scored the eventual game-winner at 73:03.
This marks the first times in her career that Dobbyn has netted two goals in a game, and it is the first time this season a Michigan player has tallied consecutive multiple-goal games. Dobbyn is the team leader in both goals (5) and points (17) and is tied with senior Therese Heaton (Wheaton, Ill./Warrenville South) for the lead in assists (3). Dobbyn has also registered a team-high 39 shots this season.
Dobbyn and the Wolverines head on the road to Indiana for two Big Ten games. On Friday (Sept. 30) Michigan will face Indiana in Bloomington, Ind., at 4 p.m. EST/CDT, and on Sunday (Oct. 2) the Wolverines will take on Purdue in West Lafayette, Ind., at 1 p.m. EST/CDT.
