QUOTES
Michigan Coach Andrew Sapp
On the first day of the Wolverine Intercollegiate ... "Obviously, we have shot some of the best scores that we have ever shot. So, it was an exciting day. It was really good to see guys finish well. There were times where I was a little bit surprised that some guys told be that they shot rounds in the 60s. I knew they were playing one-under or even par, but they made some birdies coming in which really, really helped. It shows their confidence level is high when they can be under par and go further under par."
On how to maintain the lead and confidence ... "I think confidence breeds confidence. So, hopefully, they will get a good night's sleep. It will be a new experience for them. It will be the first time that they will have to sleep on a lead, so we'll see. We'll probably get together for breakfast and on the range in the morning and just realize what has gone on, but also realize that we still have a lot of work to do. I am going to just challenge them to better their score by two tomorrow, since they improved by two in the afternoon. I think they will be confident enough to play well. They definitely did today."
On having a home course advantage ... "I think so (having a home course advantage). This fall in practice and in qualifying that we have had so many good scores in the 60s. We haven't had this many all at once, but they have been playing really well out here. That just helps in becoming more and more confident. So, when the green light goes they are ready to shoot in the red. It's pretty amazing. We are really pleased with how they played today. It's fun to watch. I think it might even be more rounds in the 60s than we had all of last year."
