U-M student-athletes also excelled in the classroom, with five Wolverines earning ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America distinction as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Lindsey Gallo (women's track) and Matt Niemeyer (men's soccer) earned first team Academic All-America honors, and Gallo was named her sport's Academic All-American of the Year for the second straight season.
