Edwards Headlines List of Biletnikoff Award Finalists

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Senior wide receiver Braylon Edwards (Detroit, Mich./Bishop Gallagher HS) of the University of Michigan football team headlines a list of three finalists for the 2004 Biletnikoff Award, presented annually to the nation's outstanding wide receiver, as selected by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation. Edwards is the joined on the finalist list with Midwest flavor by Purdue's Taylor Stubblefield and Ball State's Dante Ridgeway.

Edwards is first in the Big Ten and fifth nationally in every major receiving category this season. He has 76 receptions for 1,049 yards (13.8 avg.) and 11 touchdowns. Edwards became the first player in Big Ten history and the ninth player in Division I-A football history to surpass the 1,000-yard mark three times during his career in the Northwestern game (Nov. 13). Edwards has five 100-yard receiving games this season and has touchdown receptions in six of the 10 games. He is also a semifinalist for the Maxwell Award and a candidate for the Walter Camp Player of the Year award.
The 2004 Biletnikoff Award winner will be announced live on ESPN's College Football Awards Show at Walt Disney World on Thursday, Dec. 9. The winner will be honored February at a banquet in Tallahassee, Fla.
A panel of writers and broadcasters and a handful of former receivers, including Fred Biletnikoff, make up the panel selected by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation. Pittsburgh's Larry Fitzgerald, a rookie with the Arizona Cardinals, won the 2003 award.
