Greenless Outruns the Field at Michigan State Invitational

EAST LANSING, Mich. -- Battling fierce headwinds, senior Tom Greenless (Milford, Mich./Milford HS) of the University of Michigan men's cross country team claimed first place at Michigan State's Spartan Invitational on Friday (Sept. 19) at the Forest Akers East Golf Course, crossing the line at the 24:35 mark. The No. 7-ranked Wolverines boasted four top-10 finishers in the 12-team, non-scoring event.
Senior captain Nick Stanko (Wyandotte, Mich./Roosevelt HS) placed sixth with a time of 24:56, just a step ahead of junior Tarn Leach (East Jordan, Mich./East Jordan HS), who finished in seventh place at 24:57. Junior Sean Moore (Saline, Mich./Saline HS) rounded out the top 10, finishing with a time of 25:04.
Next up for the Wolverines is the Great American Cross Country Festival at 9 a.m. Friday (Sept. 26) at the SAS Soccer Park in Cary, N.C.
