U-M Rowing 2003 Fall Schedule
ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's rowing team has announced its fall portion of the 2003-04 campaign. The Wolverines will be hosting three events to kick off the schedule, followed by a pair of trips to head races.
U-M will hold its annual Boathouse Day on Saturday, Sept. 20. Boathouse Day is set to begin at 10 a.m. and will include a chance for family, friends and the general public to experience rowing first hand with the guidance of the Michigan rowing team and coaching staff. The day will conclude at 12:30 p.m. with an alumni race, which pits former U-M rowers against the current varsity team.
Attendance to Boathouse Day is free of charge. Patrons wishing to purchase rowing memorabilia will be able to find T-shirts, sweatshirts and other items on sale courtesy of the Open Water Club, Michigan rowing's booster organization.
Rounding out Boathouse Day weekend will be a set of home races against Eastern Michigan and Michigan State on Sunday, Sept. 21. Another home meet will take place two weeks later on Oct. 4 when Ohio State joins the Wolverines for a dual meet.
The Maize and Blue will partake in its first head race on Oct. 19 when it travels to Boston, Mass., for the prestigious Head of the Charles. The subsequent weekend Michigan will compete in the Head of the Elk in Elkhart, Ind.
Michigan's novice crew will work out with Eastern Michigan on Nov. 1 in Belleville to wrap up the fall schedule.
