U-M Duo Earn Gold at Royal Canadian Henley Regatta

ANN ARBOR, Mich. - University of Michigan rowers Heather DeHainaut (Vineland, N.J./Vineland HS) and Leah Ketcheson (Belleville, Ontario/Bayside SS) each won a pair of gold medals at the 121st Royal Canadian Henley Regatta on Saturday and Sunday (Aug. 10) in St. Catharines, Ontario. Staged at Martindale Pond, the Henley Regatta spans six days, draws over 3,000 male and female athletes annually from an assortment of countries and clubs, and is considered Canada's finest rowing event.
Ketcheson, who will be a junior for U-M in 2003-04, rowed for the St. Catharines club team and earned gold in the senior women's coxless four and the women's eight dash. She also compete in four other events: senior B women's eight, senior women's eight, championship women's eight and senior B women's pair.
DeHainaut, who hails from Vineland, N.J., participated with the Vesper BC club. The fifth-year senior helped her crews to gold medals in both of the events in which she competed, the championship women's eight and the senior women's eight.
