U-M Blanked at Home by Buckeyes in Conference Opener

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's tennis team dropped its Big Ten Conference opener Saturday afternoon (March 15), falling 7-0 to No. 22-ranked Ohio State at the Varsity Tennis Center. The Wolverines (5-6, 0-1 Big Ten) surrendered the doubles point to the Buckeyes to begin the afternoon, and OSU swept all six in singles to close out the match.
The Buckeyes earned the first point of the match after securing wins in all three doubles matches. OSU continued its dominance in singles action, picking up straight-set victories at No. 2 through No. 6. In the final match of the day, Ohio State's No. 17-ranked Jeremy Wurtzman came from behind to defeat sophomore Michael Rubin (Canton, Ohio/Canton Central Catholic HS) 3-6, 6-4, 6-1 at No.1, completing the sweep for the Buckeyes.
The Wolverines will return to action next Sunday (March 23), facing Penn State at the Varsity Tennis Center. The match is slated to start at noon.
