Q U O T E S
Michigan Head Coach Andrew Sapp
On the tournament finish ... "It was a long day today, but there really isn't anything I can point to or talk about what happened to us. Yesterday there were some positives, but today there really weren't any. When you have a chance to move up and are in striking distance of some other teams and things don't go right and you don't move up, there really isn't anything positive you can look at. But that is why we play the game. We have a chance to forget what has happened here, develop some amnesia and get right back at it and tee it up this weekend. We need to take this opportunity to learn from our mistakes here, correct them and move forward this weekend."
Junior Dave Nichols
On the invitational ... "To be honest I think I came into this tournament with a ton of confidence, but I can't really say what happened to me or to us. One thing, even though this really isn't an excuse, was during the practice round they had the course set up short, about 6,600 yards, and we got the feeling that was how it was going to play. Then they told us we were going to play from the tips, which is almost 7,000 yards, so my swing, and I think the rest of us had our swings off just a little. But again, we need to be able to adjust and even though this was a tough course with no real easy shots or bail-out areas, we just need to play better."
On the team's tournament and how they prepare for this weekend ... "I think everyone would agree with me that no one really played well and with such a real tough golf course, things just got magnified. Everyone is real disappointed right now. We know we can play good ... we have done it all year. We just need to do it at the right time. This upcoming weekend is definitely the right time because there are going to be a lot of district teams there. So, we need to work on our swings because this weekend the golf course is even harder and you have to hit it even straighter. Hopefully, we will find something to carry us through."
On where the team goes now ... "We just really need to get some breaks going. I don't mean to make excuses but it seems nothing has really gone well for us. I mean one guy will play really good and then others struggle. We need just need to put it all together."
