2003-04 IHM at Nebraska-Omaha -- Postgame Notes

Michigan improved to 10-2-1 all-time against Nebraska-Omaha. The Wolverines are 5-1-1 on the road against the Mavericks.
Michigan's power play frustration continued as the Wolverines were held scoreless in four power-play opportunities. The Maize and Blue is 0-for-27 on the power play in its last seven contests after starting the season with a man-advantage goal in each of its first 10 games.
The three shots allowed in the third period of tonight's game are tied for the second-fewest allowed in a period by the Wolverines this season. U-M allowed only two shots in the first period against Northern Michigan (Oct. 26) and allowed three in the first period against Niagara (Nov. 1). U-M has allowed five or fewer shots in 11 of 51 regulation periods this season.
U-M improved to 3-4 on the road this season.
The Wolverines are 5-1 this season in games decided by one goal. Michigan is 6-3 in games decided by one goal or when an empty net goal was scored in the final minute.
With a goal in tonight's game, Mike Brown has four of his five points this season on the road. Brown's lone point at Yost Ice Arena came on Nov. 1 against Niagara when he netted his first career goal and point.
With assists in tonight's game against Nebraska-Omaha, Eric Nystrom, Dwight Helminen and Jason Ryznar continue to torment to Mavericks. The three forwards rank as Michigan's top three current career-leading scorers against UNO. Nystrom leads the way with 5-4-9 totals in seven career games against UNO. Helminen (3-3-6) and Ryznar (3-3-6) are tied for second among current Wolverines.
Sophomore forward Jeff Tambellini (Port Moody, B.C.) missed a game for the first time in his Michigan career, as he traveled to Kitchener, Ontario, to try out for the Canadian Junior National Team. In Tambellini's absence senior forward David Wyzgowski (North Street, Mich.) made his first appearance in the lineup since Oct. 17 against Quinnipiac.
Tonight's game marked Michigan's first visit to the Qwest Center Omaha. Attendance for the game was 9,180, Nebraska-Omaha's largest crowd since moving into the buiding at the start of the 2003-04 season.
Nebraska-Omaha freshman goaltender Chris Holt played on the U.S. National Team Development Program's Under-18 team during the 2002-03 season with current Wolverine freshmen Mike Brown, T.J. Hensick and Matt Hunwick.
