Michigan received back-to-back power plays but also was unable to score on either occasion. Hartwick finally broke the tie with a pair of lob shots on consecutive possessions to make the score 4-2 with 2:33 remaining in the half. On the ensuing possession, Nisbet drew another penalty shot. Delia Sonda (Ann Arbor, Mich./Huron HS) completed the 3-0 run for the Wolverines with a tally at the four-minute mark, giving Michigan a 6-4 lead. Hartwick closed the gap with a penalty shot of its own, but Hausmann responded for the Wolverines to push the lead back to two goals at the beginning of the fourth quarter.

Q U O T E S
U-M Head Coach Matt Anderson
On beating Indiana and Hartwick, two top teams in the CWPA ... "We have to establish ourselves as the team to beat in the East then get ready to go after the teams out West. As you saw in this tournament we didn't have a good first quarter against San Jose State and that hurt us. We then handled Indiana very easily and we let Hartwick get a lead before we came back and controlled the game. That's what I'm trying to enforce in these girls, that we want to expect to be the best in the East and now we're going after bigger fish."
On Megan Hausmann's three goals and Sheetal Narsai's four goals ... "This weekend Megan showed that for a freshman nothing fazes her. She is as legitimate as they come. Sheetal is the reason we won this game. In the third period she drew a couple of four-meter penalty shots and had those counters. It's nice to see the younger players stepping up."
On what the team needs to improve on for its games in San Diego in two weeks ... "The team you saw this weekend will not be the same team in San Diego. It's going to be a totally different look in terms of style of play. I have to figure out which team is better to win against West Coast teams. We have to improve finishing. Sheetal showed she could finish and that's what we lacked against San Jose State. Against Indiana and Hartwick we finished and the results show what we wanted."
Sophomore Driver Sheetal Narsai
On her four goals ... "We were all working as a team and I saw openings and I just drove through them and people saw me and passed the ball to me."
On her two goals on four-meter penalty shots ... "I just have confidence at shooting the four-meter shots. You need confidence to shoot that shot and Coach Anderson sees that. Megan Hausmann and I are the two who take that shot."
On the third-quarter turnaround ... "I think we just started playing more team defense. Obviously, defense leads to offense so with that our strong defense allowed us to pull out and have counterattacks."
