Wolverine Rower, Coach Fare Well at World Juniors

Ford's boat of Sarah Bowman and Kimberly Bailey finished fifth with a time of 8:44.8 in the Grande Final of the women's pair. The Romanian team of Alina Poncisei and Ioana Papuc took the gold medal with a time of 8:23.2.
Carl won a bronze medal with a third-place time of 7:08.4 in the Grande Final of the women's eight. Romania captured the gold with a time of 6:53.2.
Ford is starting her seventh season as an assistant coach for the Wolverines. Her primary responsibility on the water is the second varsity eight, which captured Michigan rowing's first national title with a first-place finish at the 2001 NCAA Championships. Ford also serves as a board member for the Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association.
In addition to Ford, Michigan undergraduate coach Rachel Brunelle, who rowed for U-M for two seasons (2000-01), assisted the Junior National team as a coaching intern during the summer while the team was training in San Diego, Calif.
USRowing is the non-profit membership organization recognized by the United States Olympic Committee as the national governing body for the sport of rowing in the United States.
