Michigan Trio Awarded All-America Honorable Mention

Playing in 33 games, Armstrong was the anchor of the Michigan defense, blocking 317 shots with a 6.57 goals against average. She also set school records for blocks in a game with 19, blocks in a single season and the lowest goals-against average for an entire season. Armstrong received the Collegiate Water Polo Association's Player of the Week award on March 6, and she was named to the All-Southern Division (CWPA) First Team. In the CWPA postseason tournament, Armstrong was selected to the all-tournament first team and was chosen as the championship game MVP. To cap off her freshman campaign, Armstrong was an all-tournament second team selection at the NCAA Championship.
Crisman played in all 36 games, set a school record with 47 steals on the season and became the first Michigan player to register 30 goals and 30 steals in a single season. She received the Wolverines' third CWPA Player of the Week award in 2002 on March 13. At the CWPA postseason tournament, Crisman was a second team all-tournament selection. Leading Michigan scorers with three goals at the NCAA Championship, she was chosen as second-team all-tournament member.
Nisbet set a school record for the Wolverines with 47 goals this season to raise her career total to 80. She led the Maize and Blue in goals in 2001 with 33. Nisbet was one of Michigan's most consistent players as she was a first team selection to both the All-Southern Division (CWPA) team and the CWPA postseason all-tournament team. During the playoffs, she led U-M with 16 scores.
Michigan posted a 25-13 record in 2002 and won Southern Division and Eastern titles to advance to the NCAA Championship in just its second season as a varsity program. The Wolverines went 0-2 at nationals to finish fourth.
