Showcase Sweep Nets Montoya CCHA Weekly Honor

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Freshman Al Montoya (Glenview, Ill.), a goaltender on the University of Michigan ice hockey team, has been named the Central Collegiate Hockey Association's Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced today (Monday, Dec. 2).

The CCHA Defensive Player of the Week award is Montoya's first. Earlier this season (Nov. 18) Montoya was named CCHA Rookie of the Week.
No. 8 Michigan (11-2-1, 6-1-1 CCHA) will conclude the first half of the 2002-03 campaign this weekend, traveling to Marquette, Mich., for a two-game CCHA series with the Northern Michigan Wildcats on Friday and Saturday (Dec. 6-7). Opening faceoff is slated for 7:05 p.m. on both nights at the Berry Events Center on the NMU campus.
