Today's announced attendance was 110,412 vs. Wisconsin. Michigan set a new NCAA season attendance record with 773,763 fans during its seven games at Michigan Stadium this season. The previous record was 745,139 set by Michigan during the 1997 national championship season.
Michigan's 16-play, 8:34 drive in the third quarter was the Wolverines' fifth longest touchdown drive in terms of plays (since 1974) and the sixth longest by time (since 1978).
For the third straight game, Michigan had a running back surpass the 100-yard mark. Today, junior running back Chris Perry carried the ball 27 times for 175 yards. The previous two games were back-to-back 100-yard efforts by senior running back B.J. Askew. Askew gained 149 yards against Michigan State (Nov. 2) and 129 yards at Minnesota (Nov. 9).
Chris Perry set a career high with 175 yards against Wisconsin. His previous high was 120 yards against Washington (Aug. 31) in the season opener. Perry also set a career high with 27 carries, one more than his 26 against Utah (Sept. 21). Perry's 175 yards are the most at Michigan since Anthony Thomas (1997-2000) recorded 182 vs. Auburn in the Citrus Bowl (Jan. 1, 2001).
Senior/junior quarterback John Navarre passed Tom Brady (1996-99) for fourth on Michigan's career passing yards list. Navarre now has 5,357 career yards. In his four-year career, Brady passed for 5,351 yards. Elvis Grbac is Michigan's all-time leader with 6,460 passing yards.
B.J. Askew became Michigan's most prolific receiving threat out of the backfield with three receptions for 31 yards, pushing his career total to 761 receiving yards. The previous leader in reception yards by a running back was Jamie Morris (1984-87), who compiled 756 receiving yards during his career.
Fifth-year senior tight end Bennie Joppru tied his career high with seven receptions, for 45 yards. It is the third time Joppru has caught seven passes this season. The other times were at Notre Dame (Sept. 14) and at Illinois (Sept. 28).
With his 11-yard touchdown run in the first quarter, Chris Perry scored his 10th touchdown of the season. Perry has scored all of his touchdowns on the ground.
Sophomore wide receiver Braylon Edwards caught his 10th touchdown of the season today to cap an 8:43 drive in the third quarter.
Fifth-year senior linebacker Victor Hobson surpassed the 250-tackle mark today. Hobson finished the game with nine stops to push his career total to 258. He also had one fumble recovery and one sack.
Sophomore cornerback Marlin Jackson recorded one PBU today to push his career total to 24. He is now tied with Jarrett Irons (1993-96) for fifth on Michigan's career PBU list. Jackson has a school-record 17 PBUs this season.
Sophomore/freshman linebacker Joey Sarantos earned his first career start today.
Sophomore/freshman linebacker Scott McClintock set a career high with eight tackles.
Sophomore cornerback Markus Curry doubled his season and career totals with three PBUs today.
Senior/junior cornerback Jeremy LeSueur set a Michigan record for kick return yards in a season today. LeSueur returned two kickoffs for 35 yards, pushing his season total to 524 yards. The previous record was 504 yards by Desmond Howard (1989-91) in 1990.
Jeremy LeSueur's two kickoff returns today moved him into second on Michigan's season kickoff returns list with 23 returns this season. Todd Howard (1998-2001) had 22 returns in 2001. Ron Johnson (1966-68) holds the record with 26 in 1967.
Junior/sophomore wide receiver Jermaine Gonzales made his debut returning punts for the Wolverines. Gonzales returned two punts for nine yards today.
Junior/sophomore punter Adam Finley moved into sixth place on Michigan's season punt list with 58 punts this year. He passed Jason Vinson (1995-98), who had 57 punts in 1997. Finley also moved into third on the season punt yardage list with 2,457 yards this season. Mark Werner (1968-69) was previously third on the list with 2,438 punt yards in 1968.
