Sgroi, Brabbs Earn Verizon Academic All-District Honors

Currently enrolled in U-M Law School, Sgroi graduated last spring with a 3.34 cumulative grade point average as a political science major. He and is a three-time U-M Athletic Academic Achievement Award winner and gained Academic All-Big Ten Conference honors in 2000. Sgroi, the Wolverines' top long snapper, has seen action in all 10 games this season and has played in a total of 24 contests throughout his career.
A three-time U-M Athletic Academic Achievement Award winner, Brabbs carries a 3.2 GPA in industrial and operations engineering. He was named Big Ten Special Teams Player of the Week after connecting on the game-winning 44-yard field goal in the Wolverines' season opener against Washington (Aug. 31). Brabbs has booted three field goals and nine PATs on the year, and he handles the kickoff duties for the Maize and Blue. He has totaled 22 touchbacks and has helped limit opponents to a mere 18.9 yards per return. An all-around performer on kickoffs, Brabbs has accumulated three tackles and is tied for second in the Big Ten with two fumble recoveries.
The Academic All-District honors are the first for Sgroi and Brabbs, who were among seven Big Ten Conference representatives on the first and second teams.
