More on Len Paddock
Lenwood Paddock was an assistant trainer at Michigan for 33 years working with all sports including track and field. Paddock's career spanned the football coaching tenures of Fritz Crisler, Bennie Oosterbaan, Bump Elliot and Bo Schembechler. In his first season with the Wolverines, 1947-48, Michigan won national championships in football, hockey and swimming, the men's basketball team captured the Big Ten title and Charles Fonville set a world record in the shot put. On March 3, 1984, the Michigan track team re-named its training room to the Lenwood Paddock Training Room.
Last Year's Paddock Invitational
Michigan will be returning several athletes who competed at last year's Len Paddock Invitational. Michigan enjoyed one other victory out if its sprinters as the 4x100-meter relay foursome delivered a pace of 46.01. Michigan's third and final victory of the meet came from April Phillips (Fraser, Mich./Fraser HS), who finished in first place in the shot put with a heave of 46-11.

Jazwinski Doubles Up With NCAA Times
Junior Katie Jazwinski ran a personal best and NCAA automatic time in the 5,000-meter run at the Mt. SAC Relays (April 20) with her run of 16:06.71. This made her the first female or male Wolverine of the 2001 season to qualify for the NCAA Championships with an automatic time or mark. It also makes her the only Wolverine to qualify for two NCAA events, as she has a provisional qualifying time in the 1,500 (4:20.22), which she set at the Duke Invitational (April 7).
Ouellet Gives U-M Another Provisional
Senior Lisa Ouellet joins freshman Melissa Bickett (Akron, Ohio/Revere HS), sophomore April Phillips, junior Katie Jazwinski and sophomore Teyonna Simpson (Fremont, Calif./Mission San Jose HS) as Wolverines who have qualified with NCAA provisional times and marks in their respective events.
