Michigan Comes from Behind Again, Edges Penn State

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's tennis team posted a 4-3 comeback victory over Penn State Saturday (April 7) at the Varsity Tennis Center, winning four of the six singles matches after losing the doubles point. The Wolverines (8-7, 2-3 Big Ten) moved over the .500 mark for the first time since opening the season with five straight wins.
Trailing 1-0 after getting swept in the doubles matches, U-M won singles matches at No. 2 through No. 5 to secure the come-from-behind victory. Penn State gained its two other team points as Jamie Gresh and Brad Nudell won three-set matches at No. 1 and No. 6, respectively. Juniors Ben Cox (Spring Lake, Mich./Spring Lake HS), Dan McCain (Largo, Fla./Canterbury School) and Greg Novak (Stoney Creek, Ontario/Cardinal Newman HS) won straight-set matches for the Wolverines, while freshman Anthony Jackson (Glendale, Wis./Nicolet HS) posted a 4-6, 6-3, 6-2 victory over Todd Stecko at No. 5.
The Wolverines close out the weekend homestand against Ohio State tomorrow (Sunday, April 8, noon) at the Varsity Tennis Center. U-M will travel to East Lansing for a Wednesday night match against Michigan State (April 11, 6 p.m.) at the MSU Tennis Facility.
