Wolverines Drop 6-1 Decision on the Road at Indiana

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. -- The University of Michigan women's tennis team suffered its fourth consecutive loss with a 6-1 setback against Indiana Saturday (April 21) at the IU Varsity Courts. The Hoosiers (15-8, 6-3 Big Ten) won the doubles point and claimed five of the six singles matches to claim victory, while the Wolverines (7-11, 2-7 Big Ten) managed their only team point with a victory at the No. 1 singles spot.
Michigan was able to keep Indiana from a doubles sweep with an 8-3 victory by the new doubles pairing of junior Jen Vaughn (Jefferson City, Mo./Lawrence HS) and freshman Kim Plaushines (Oconomowoc, Wis./Kettle Moraine HS) against Kelly Blanch and J.J. Levin at No. 1. The Hoosiers won the doubles point with victories at No. 2 and No. 3.
In singles action, freshman Kavitha Tipirneni (Galloway, Ohio/Hilliard Darby HS) picked up the lone win with a 6-2, 7-6 victory against Kelly Blanch at the No. 1 spot.
The Wolverines finish the regular season tomorrow morning (Sunday, April 22, 11 a.m. EST/CDT) against Purdue at the Varsity Tennis Courts in West Lafayette, Ind.
