The Wolverines tallied team rounds of 289-289-293 for a season-best total of 871, which tied them with Kentucky (289-294-288) for the fifth spot. Chappie Hits Career-Best Total
Andrew Chapman is still having a strong junior season as he continues to rewrite his career-best statistics with each tournament. He set a new career best total for a three-round tournament at the Marshall Invitational (April 6-7) after totaling a 216 (72-71-73). His previous best tournament total was 218 fired at the Xavier Invitational (Oct. 11-12, 1999).
More from Chappie's Year
With the win at the Wolverine South Invitational (March 3-4), Andrew Chapman won the first individual medalist honors of his Michigan career. His previous best tournament was a fourth-place finish at the 2000 Wolverine South (March 4-5, 2000) and a tie for fourth at the Marshall Invitational (April 9-10, 2000). In addition, Chapman's final round of 69 was a career best and marked the first time he has broken the 70-stroke barrier in his Michigan career. He has shot 70 four times as a Wolverine. For the season he is third on the team with a 74.63 stroke average.
Carlton Stays on Track, Sets Career Best Mark
Scott Carlton has continued to stay on track all year long. He has competed in eight of the nine tournaments season and is fourth on the team with 75.00 scoring average. He tied his career best total for a three-round tournament at the Marshall Invitational (April 6-7) after totaling a 218 (74-70-74). He fired the same total earlier this season at the Wolverine North Invitational (Sept. 23-24).
Season Bests Fall in Huntington
In addition to Andrew Chapman's and Scott Carlton's career-best tournament totals, the Wolverines' team total of 871 at the Marshall Invitational (April 6-7) was a season-best mark by nine strokes. The previous best total was 880 earlier this year at the Xavier Invitational (Oct. 9-10). Redshirt junior Kyle Kilcherman's Invitational total of 225 (71-76-78) was a season-best three-round total. He bettered the 230 tallied at the Wolverine North (Sept. 23-24).

Other top 100 Big Ten teams include: No. 61 Purdue, No. 67 Ohio State, No. 68 Penn State, No. 80 Wisconsin and No. 92 Michigan State. Make That Two New Champions
Andrew Chapman became the second Wolverine this season to win his first career individual title. Fifth-year senior Scott Hayes claimed his first medalist honors at the Inverness Intercollegiate (Sept. 18-19, 2000). Interestingly, the titles came in the first tournament of the fall and spring seasons -- Chapman's title opened the spring season while Hayes' title opened the fall season. Hayes leads the Wolverines with a 73.71 stroke average while Chapman is third at 75.00, which is nearly a stroke better than his career-best average.
