The Wolverines shot par or better as a team in each round and matched a season low with a final-round 281 (seven under par) for a season-best, eight-under total of 856 (287-288-281), good for third behind Minnesota (845) and Kent State (852). Harris' season-low 54-hole total of 206 gave the senior captain his fourth individual title of the 1999-2000 season. Andy Matthews and Mike Affeldt tied for 23rd with totals of 218, while Andrew Chapman finished in a tie for 28th at 219. Scott Hayes closed with a career-low, four-under-par 68 for a 221 total and a tie for 42nd place.

He finished tied for the 13th after carding rounds of 72 and 73 for a 145 tournament total. Matthews Continues to Stay Consistent
Junior Andy Matthew's third-place individual finish at the Wolverine South Invitational (March 3-4) was a career best. His previous best finish was a tie for seventh at the Xavier Invitational (Oct. 11-12, 1999). He followed that performance with a consistent performance at the El Diablo Intercollegiate (March 17-18), where he tied for 13th after rounds of 72-73 for a 145 total. So far this year, Matthews has been among the top three Wolverines in each tournament, and he led Michigan at the Northern Intercollegiate (Sept. 30-Oct. 1) and at El Diablo. He is second on the team with a 74.10 stroke average.
Hinton to Play in Fifth tournament of the Season
Kevin Hinton will play in his fifth tournament of the year, as he is scheduled to travel as an individual to the Dr Pepper Intercollegiate (March 24-25) at Tanglewood in Pottsboro, Texas. By playing at the Dr Pepper it will give him the most tournament appearances in his Michigan career. He competed in four tournaments as a redshirt freshman (1997-98) and only one each in his sophomore and junior season. For the season, he is averaging 80.72 strokes per round.
Kilcherman Continues to Impress in the Spring
Kyle Kilcherman has continued to have a strong spring season for the Maize and Blue. He opened the spring season carding back-to-back rounds of 75 at the Wolverine South Invitational (March 3-4), which tied his season-best round. He followed that with rounds of 77 and 76 at the El Diablo Intercollegiate (March 24-25). He is averaging just over two stroke better than the fall -- 75.75 this spring to his final fall average of 77.83. For the year, he is averaging 77.00 strokes per round.

Chapman Gets First Title
With the win at the Wolverine South Invitational (March 3-4), junior Andrew Chapman won the first individual medalist honors of his Michigan career. His previous best tournament was a fourth-place finish at the 2000 Wolverine South (March 4-5, 2000) and a tie for fourth at the Marshall Invitational (April 9-10, 2000). In addition, Chapman's final round of 69 was a career best and marked the first time he has broken the 70-stroke barrier in his Michigan career. He has shot 70 four times as a Wolverine. For the season he is third on the team with a 74.76 stroke average.
Make That Two New Champions
Andrew Chapman became the second Wolverine this season to win his first career individual title. Fifth-year senior Scott Hayes claimed his first medalist honors at the Inverness Intercollegiate (Sept. 18-19, 2000). Interestingly, the titles came in the first tournament of the fall and spring seasons -- Chapman's title opened the spring season while Hayes' title opened the fall season. Hayes leads the Wolverines with a 72.88 stroke average while Chapman is third at 74.76, which is nearly a stroke better than his career-best average.
