Wolverines Shut Out by No. 11-Ranked Northwestern

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's tennis team lost its fourth straight match, dropping a 7-0 verdict to No. 11-ranked Northwestern Sunday (Feb. 25) at the Varsity Tennis Center. The Wolverines (3-4) forced three-set matches at the No. 4 and No. 5 singles spots but were unable to come away with any points, losing all six singles matches and the three doubles contests.
Michigan's best opportunity for a team point came at No. 4 singles as senior Szandra Fuzesi (Budapest, Hungary/Balassi Balint Gimnazium) lost 7-4 in a third-set tie-breaker to Marine Piriou. Fuzesi dropped the first set 6-2 but stormed back with a 7-5 victory in the second before losing 7-6 in the third.
The Wolverines travel to San Diego during spring break to train and compete in a match against the San Diego Toreros (Wednesday, Feb. 28, 1:30 p.m. PST).
