ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- A pair of University of Michigan football players have been selected to the Football News All-America teams announced today (Tuesday, Nov. 27) by the publication. Senior inside linebacker Larry Foote (Detroit, Mich./Pershing HS) was named to the All-America first team on defense, while senior left guard Jonathan Goodwin (Columbia, S.C./Lower-Richland HS) was named to the All-America second team on offense. These teams were selected by the publication's editorial staff and will be highlighted in the Dec. 15 issue of the Football News.
Foote caps an outstanding career at Michigan with his first All-America citation. He leads the Wolverine defense with 73 tackles on the year and is tops on the team with a school-record-tying 26 tackles for loss. Foote leads the Big Ten Conference and nation in TFLs, and he was a semifinalist for both the Butkus Award and Football News Defensive Player of the Year Award earlier this season. Foote has notched 195 career tackles, 42 TFLs, 10 sacks and three interceptions.

Goodwin has been a mainstay on the offensive line as the only returning starter from last year's squad that graduated four NFL rookie starters and U-M's all-time leading rusher, Anthony Thomas. Goodwin has played both guard positions, center and left tackle for the Wolverines during his career, playing in 28 contests and starting 19 of them.
The All-America pair will lead the No. 16-ranked Wolverines (8-3, 6-2 Big Ten) into postseason action at the Capital One Florida Citrus Bowl on New Year's Day (Jan. 1, 2002, at 1 p.m. EST).
