Beam Selected to Main Draw of ITA All-American Event

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan senior men's tennis player Henry Beam (Kalamazoo, Mich./Loy Norrix HS) has been invited to compete in the 64-player main draw of the 2001 ITA All-American Championship held Oct. 5-14 at the Lincoln Tennis Center in Stone Mountain, Ga. Beam enters the year ranked No. 43 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association preseason Top 100 singles rankings that were released Sept. 13.
The Wolverines will send three other players into prequalifying competition at the ITA All-American Championship beginning this Friday (Oct. 5-8). Senior Ben Cox (Spring Lake, Mich./Spring Lake HS), sophomore Anthony Jackson (Glendale, Wis./Nicolet HS) and freshman Matt Lockin (Lilburn, Ga./North Dakota Independent Study) will look to advance into the qualifier (Oct. 9-10), with the goal of reaching the main draw that starts on Thursday, Oct. 11.
After the ITA All-American Championship, the Wolverines will participate in the Thunderbird Collegiate Invitational held Oct. 19-21 at Arizona State University in Tempe, Ariz.
