PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. -- University of Michigan sophomore women's tennis player Kavitha Tipirneni (Gallaway, Ohio/Hilliard Darby HS) suffered a first-round loss at the ITA Riviera All-American Championship qualifying late yesterday (Tuesday, Oct. 9) at the Riviera Tennis Club.
Tipirneni, a returning All-Big Ten Conference selection, lost to No. 3-seeded Raquel Kops-Jones of California in three sets (5-7, 6-3, 6-4), ending her bid to reach the main draw of the tournament.
Tipirneni will look to rebound from the setback when the Wolverines return to the hardcourt Oct. 25-30 at the ITA Midwest Regional Championships at the Nielsen Tennis Center in Madison, Wis.
