ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan women's soccer team blasted 11 shots on goal but Wisconsin goalie Kelly Conway stopped them all as the Wolverines fell to the Badgers 1-0 Friday (Sept. 22) at the U-M Soccer Field.
Wisconsin's Kelly Kundert scored the only goal of the match at 15:08 of the first half. Kundert's initial shot bounced off of a U-M defender and back to her, and she slid the ball into the net.
Michigan's offense owned the second half, outshooting the Badgers 9-2. The Wolverines' best offensive chances came in the closing minutes of the game as forwards Abby Crumpton (Rochester Hills, Mich./Rochester Adams HS), Kacy Betiel (Midland, Mich./H.H. Dow HS) and Stephanie Chavez (Shorewood, Wis./Shorewood HS) peppered the net with five shots to no avail.
Carissa Stewart (Topsham, Maine/Mt. Ararat HS) suffered the loss in net for the Wolverines. Stewart made three saves and gave up the lone goal.
The 24th-ranked Wolverines (3-4, 2-1 Big Ten) close out the weekend homestand by hosting Minnesota on Sunday (Sept. 24) at 1:30 p.m.
