Kosanke Selected to Academic All-America First Team

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan senior third baseman Pam Kosanke (Chesterfield, Mo./Parkway Central HS) highlighted her final Wolverine softball season with selection to the GTE Academic All-America Softball First Team. Kosanke becomes the eighth Wolverine softball player selected for GTE Academic All-America honors (12 total citations awarded).

A business administration graduate from the University's School of Business, Kosanke earned both academic and athletic accolades from the Big Ten Conference. A three-time Academic All-Big Ten award winner, she twice earned a spot on the all-conference softball team, including the third baseman position on the 2000 All-Big Ten Second Team.

She was selected as a 1997 Scholar-Athlete by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, and was a first team (2000, 1999) and a second team (1998) GTE Academic All-District IV award winner. Kosanke is a candidate for an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship.

Kosanke, co-captain of the Wolverine team, started 61 of Michigan's 62 games, and finished the year as the team's second-leading hitter behind a career-high .352 batting average. She tallied 14 doubles, four home runs and 36 RBI. Kosanke graduated ranked among the all-time Michigan top 10 in games played, starts, hits, runs, doubles, home runs, RBI, sacrifices and walks.

A four-year starter, Kosanke was named to the NFCA All-Great Lakes Region First Team, and the NCAA Regional 8 Championship and Campbell/Cartier Classic all-tournament teams in her final Wolverine season (2000).
