Michigan kicks off the season on March 24 at the Atlantic Coast Conference/Big Ten Double Dual meet against Virginia and North Carolina in Charlottesville, Va. The Wolverines then travel to Michigan State on April 7 and Ohio State on April 14 for back-to-back Big Ten dual meets.
Following a week off, Michigan hosts the Big Ten Championship at Belleville Lake in Belleville, Mich. The site will feature U-M's new $1.2 million, 6,000-square-foot boathouse as the headquarters for the regatta. The six other schools participating in the event are Indiana, Iowa, Michigan State, Minnesota, Ohio State and Wisconsin. Minnesota is in its first year as a varsity program, while all of the other schools participated in last season's inaugural Big Ten Championship.
Continuing postseason competition, the Wolverines will return to Oak Ridge, Tenn., for the Central Region Championship on May 12-13. As with the Big Ten Championship, Michigan will be looking to defend its title from the 2000 season when it travels south for the competition.
The team will be seeking its fourth consecutive bid to the NCAA Championship, which this year will take place May 24-26 on Lake Lanier in Gainesville, Ga. The championship begins on Thursday (May 24) and concludes on Saturday (May 26), one day of the week earlier than previous seasons. The Wolverines rowed at Lake Lanier at the 1996 NCAA Championship, the first appearance at the national finals for the Michigan women's rowing program.
