U-M Head Coach Brian Ellerbe
On the game overall ... "That was a very good way for us to end the non-conference season. Now the real work begins."
On Josh Asselin's strong performance ... "He played well. One of the things that was really evident was our guys made really good entry feeds. [Josh] finished plays after getting hit, which I really, really liked. You want to see that out of our big people."
On Mike Gotfredson's contributions ... "Mike has played hard in practice. You like to see a kid who gets an opportunity and takes advantage of it."
Senior Forward Josh Asselin
On his performance ... "I got a couple of early touches and things were just falling for me. I think that built up a little confidence. We knew we had an advantage on the inside with our size, and one of our goals at the beginning of the game was to attack them inside."
On the emotion of the game ... "I think the whole team came out and played with emotion. We really needed to come out and play with energy. The coaches kept saying that this was the battle of Washtenaw County. We play these guys over the summer, so it is for bragging rights. That's something you don't want to lose."
Junior Center Chris Young
On attacking inside the paint ... "Before the game we were going over the tips of how we were going to approach things. (Associate head) coach (Scott) Trost addressed the post guys and said we want to make a solid effort to take over the game, to try and dominate inside. It is all about attitude. Josh would catch the ball in the post and he was immediately getting doubled, which left me wide open."
Eastern Michigan Head Coach Jim Boone
On the game overall ... "We were extremely disappointed with the way we started this game and the way we played in the first half. We felt it was important against a team like Michigan -- on their home floor -- that we get off to a good start. It did not happen. You have to give a lot of credit to Michigan for our inability to do the things we wanted to do in the first half. We got caught up with the speed and quickness that Michigan has and it overwhelmed us at first."
On Josh Asselin's performance ... "We certainly provided a basis for him to have a very good game tonight. He played very well tonight."
