U-M Head Coach Brian Ellerbe
On the game and turnovers ... "We're a young, inexperienced team. We're going to turn the basketball over. I don't think there is one individual area. We didn't finish a lot today. We had a lot of opportunities to establish distance between ourselves and St. John's but we didn't finish a lot of plays."
On playing in the consolation game ... "You got to really try and get kids going in consolation games. It's an empty building and it's kind of quiet and kids are used to playing with some emotion."
On the team's defense ... "We made some good defensive plays individually but until we can make them as a team, we're going to have a tough time. I know we're trying to get there and make some plays but it's got to be consistent."
St. John's Head Coach Mike Jarvis
On the game ... "We will take it. We will build on it and hopefully we'll look back at the [BB&T semifinal] game against George Washington as one of the defining moments of this year. We'll use it in a very positive way and eventually we'll thank George Washington for a lot of our success. I'll go back home feeling some very positive things about my team. These are the games that probably tell a coach about the true character, the true grit of a team."
On his team's performance in the second half ... "You have to have a little rhythm to play this game. A little rhythm finally came."
On keeping players in the game in the second half ... "It took us a day and a half to get a lead. When we finally got it, I didn't want to lose it, so I just continued playing the guys that were playing the best and helped us get the lead."
