Freshman Diver Kelemen Shines at EMU Invitational

YPSILANTI, Mich. -- While many members of the University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team competed in the Texas Invitational, the team's divers and several swimmers participated in the Eastern Michigan University Invitational on Friday and Saturday (Dec. 1-2). Michigan turned in a fifth-place performance with 377 points, while host Eastern Michigan placed first.
U-M showcased its strong diving talents in this meet, placing three of the top four finishers in both the one- and three-meter diving events. Freshman diver Tealin Kelemen (Riverton, N.J./Moorestown Friends School) paced U-M with two strong first-place performances. Kelemen earned an impressive 442.20 on the three-meter springboard. On the one-meter board, Kelemen scored just 0.15 points ahead of teammate Amanda Crews (Champaign, Ill./Central HS) to finish at 249.10.
Junior Lindsey McElroy (Columbia, Mo./Oakland Hills HS) also performed well, finishing second on the three-meter board (391.70), while Crews added a fourth-place finish in the three-meter diving (380.90).
Other members of U-M's women's swimming and diving team are competing on Sunday (Dec. 3) at the Texas Invitational. Preliminary action for the third and final day of competition starts at 9:30 a.m. CST, with finals commencing at 3 p.m.
