Cammalleri is the third member of the Michigan ice hockey team to represent his country at the 2001 World Junior Championship, as Andy Hilbert (Howell, Mich.) and Mike Komisarek (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) will play for the U.S. National Junior team.
Cammalleri is second to Hilbert in scoring this season for the Wolverines. He has 12 goals and 16 assists for 28 points in 19 games and is currently riding a career-high eight-game scoring streak (9-7-15). This past summer, he participated in the Canadian Hockey Association's Evaluation Camp and won a gold medal with Canada's National Under-18 Team at the 1999 Under-18 Four Nations Tournament in the Czech Republic.
All three players are expected to miss at least two Michigan games, as they will not be available for either game of the Great Lakes Invitational (Dec. 29-30). Depending on each team's schedule near the conclusion of the championship, they could also miss the games at Yost Ice Arena against Lake Superior State (Jan. 5, 7).
Hilbert, Komisarek Chosen for U.S. National Junior Team (12/5/00)
