Wolverine Tankers Nudged Out by Top-Ranked Texas

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The ninth-ranked University of Michigan men's swimming and diving team gave the defending national champion and No. 1-ranked Texas Longhorns everything it had but came up short, 127.50-112.50, on Saturday (Nov. 18) at Canham Natatorium.
Headlining the Maize and Blue efforts were Chris Thompson (Roseburg, Ore./Roseburg HS), who earned wins in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 9:00.40 and the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 4:27.02, and Scott Werner (Haymarket, Va./Paul VI HS), who was victorious in the 200-yard breaststroke with an NCAA consideration time of 2:01.45.
The Wolverines will be off the next two weeks but will be back in action against the Longhorns at the Texas Invitational in Austin on Dec. 1-3.
