Fuzesi, Duprez Compete at All-American Championships

LOS ANGELES, Calif. -- University of Michigan women's tennis players Szandra Fuzesi (Budapest, Hungary/Balassi Balint Gimnazium) and Jen Duprez (Westhampton, N.Y./West Hampton Beach HS) completed action in the pre-qualifying portion of the 2000 Riviera All-American Championships held at UCLA this past weekend (Oct. 14-15).
A sophomore, Duprez split a pair of singles matches at the tournament. Duprez defeated Katarzyna Kolovyska from Oklahoma State in the first round (6-3, 6-3), before falling in three sets to Boise State's Renate Stoop (6-1, 4-6, 6-3). Fuzesi, a senior, lost in the first round to Simone Jardim of Fresno State (6-4, 6-4).
In doubles pre-qualifying action, Fuzesi and Duprez lost 6-4, 6-4 in second-round action to Southern California's Maureen Diaz and Bernadette Bayani after receiving a first-round bye.
The U-M women's tennis squad returns to action in two weeks, traveling to the Marquette Invitational (Oct. 27-29). The Wolverines will compete against DePaul, Northern Illinois, Illinois-Chicago and host Marquette.
