U-M Remains 10th Heading into Final Day of Big Ten Meet

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- The University of Michigan women's golf team remains in 10th place after three rounds at the 1999 Big Ten Conference Championships, hosted by Purdue University. The Maize and Blue added a third-round score of 322 to its 665 day-one total, giving Michigan a 987 total after three of four rounds. The Wolverines trail ninth-place Minnesota by 14 strokes heading into Sunday's (May 2) final round of play.
Three golfers are sharing the Wolverine spotlight as senior Sharon Park (Lexington, Ky./Henry Clay HS) and sophomores Amy Talbot (Plantation, Fla./St. Thomas Aquinas HS) and Trish Watkins (Darien, Conn./Darien HS) lead Michigan, sitting in a tie for 33rd place with a 947 total. Park carded a 77, U-M's low round of the tournament, Saturday to lead the Wolverines to the seventh-best team score of the day.
Ohio State is the tournament leader with a three-round total of 937, led by Natalie Mosher and Amber Amstutz, who are tied for the individual lead with Indiana's Erin Carney with 54-hole totals of 228.
The 72-hole tournament will conclude on Sunday, with the final l8 holes scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. EST (10 a.m. EDT).
