Michigan Ties for Notre Dame Invitational Title

Senior Jay Cantin (Camlachie, Ontario/St. Clair SS) led the way for the Wolverines, placing second overall (23:54), two second behind Notre Dame's Ryan Shay. Cantin was followed by sophomore Mike Wisniewski (Temperance, Mich./Bedford HS), who crossed the finish line in eighth place (24:20). Cantin and Wisniewski were the only top 10 Michigan finishers.
Rounding out Michigan's scoring places were senior Steve Lawrence (Consecon, Ontario/East Northumberland SS) in 18th place (24:38), sophomore Mark Pilja (Naperville, Ill./Naperville North HS) in 24th place (24:41) and junior John Butsic (Iron River, Mich./West Iron County HS) in 29th place (24:49).
The invitational marked the Wolverines' second meeting with the Georgetown this season. The first meeting was on Sept. 18 at the Spiked Shoe Invitational, in which Michigan finished 12 points behind Hoyas for a third-place team finish.
The men will continue their season next Saturday (Oct. 9) at the Murray Keatinge Invitational in Orono, Maine, at 11:15 a.m.
