Blue Outshines Maize in U-M Intrasquad Meet

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- To kick off the 1999 season, the University of Michigan men's gymnastics team held its Maize and Blue intrasquad meet at Cliff Keen Arena on Friday (Dec. 4). The Blue squad defeated the Maize team by 3.20 points, 219.85 to 216.65.
Michigan's most outstanding performer was Maize team member Scott Vetere (Quakertown, Pa./Quakertown HS), who scored victories in the pommel horse (9.80), the parallel bars (9.60) and the all-around (56.100).
The Blue team was led by Jose "LaLo" Haro (Puebla, Pue. Mexico/Instituto Iberia), who tied for first-place honors on the vault with Kevin Roulston (Lititz, Pa./Manheim Township HS) (9.65) and captured second on the floor exercise (9.40), parallel bars (9.50), horizontal bar (9.40) and the all-around (55.65).
The Wolverines will travel to Chicago, Ill., for their official season opener, the Windy City Invitational on Jan. 16.
