Being the first woman inducted into the Michigan Hall of Honor is another in a series of firsts for Micki King Hogue. She is also the first woman to teach physical education at a military academy and the first woman to coach an NCAA champion. Before graduating in 1966, Micki won three Women's Intercollegiate Diving titles at Michigan. Since she competed before varsity sports became a reality for women, there was no chance for her to earn an athletic scholarship. This, however, did not deter Micki from becoming the best possible diver she could become. In the 1968 Olympics, Micki was two dives away from winning a medal when she broke a bone in her arm during competition and ended up placing fourth.  The setback did not slow her down as she won the gold medal in the springboard diving competition at the Munich Olympics in 1972.
