Dan Cline was a three-year letterwinner on Michigan’s 1952-1954 football teams. In his senior season, he topped the Big Ten Conference in kickoff returns and led the Wolverines in total offense. Cline served as U-M’s backfield coach from 1955-1959. Cline also played four years on Michigan’s baseball team. In 1953, his bases-loaded single off the wall provided the winning margin in the NCAA Championship game against Texas. He led the Big Ten in hitting in 1954, and in 1955 he served as captain of the baseball team and was chosen to receive the Big Ten Medal of Honor.
