Beth Wymer (Humbles)
- Induction:
- 2006
- Class:
- 1995
During Beth Wymer's career with Michigan's women's gymnastics team, the Wolverines won four Big Ten championships and placed fourth at the NCAA meet. The 14-time Big Ten champion was a multiple winner in the all-around, uneven bars and floor exercise events. In 1993, Wymer won the same three events at the Big Ten Championships as Michigan claimed its second straight crown. At the 1993 NCAA Central Regional, Wymer became the first Michigan gymnast in U-M history to record a "10," garnering the perfect score on the uneven bars. At the national meet, she became the first Michigan gymnast to win an individual event, taking top honors on the uneven bars. Wymer was simply perfect as a junior, recording eight "10's," including the first-ever perfect scores for U-M on the floor exercise and vault. Following her third Big Ten Gymnast of the Year designation in 1995, she won the NCAA uneven bars title for an unprecedented third time to drive Michigan's best ever second-place finish. Michigan's 1995 Athlete of the Year, Wymer ended her career holding at least a share of every Michigan and Big Ten gymnastics record. The prolific gymnast also excelled in the classroom, earning three Academic All-Big Ten citations, Academic All-America status and Michigan's 1995 Conference Medal of Honor.
