
Wolverines Finish Perfect Saturday with 4-0 Sweep of Toledo

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan men's tennis team capped a perfect Saturday (April 11), completing its doubleheader with a 4-0 win over Toledo at the Varsity Tennis Center.
The nightcap followed a 4-2 upset of No. 20 Michigan State earlier in the day, as Michigan improved to 11-9 on the season and extended its win streak to four matches.
Michigan captured the doubles point with Nicholas Steiglehner and Arnav Bhandari cruising past AJ Sidoti and Pannawat Suttisomboon at No. 3. The duo jumped out to a 5-0 lead before closing out a 6-1.
The No. 55-ranked pair of Max Dahlin and Pierce Shaya followed with a 6-4 win over Cole Cozens and Charlie Snow. Tied at 4-4, the Wolverines broke and held serve to secure the doubles point and a 1-0 lead over Toledo (7-16).
Arnav Bhandari made it 2-0, making quick work of Sidoti at No. 6 singles with a 6-1, 6-3 win.
Two courts down, Alex Cairo topped Suttisomboon for his second singles win of the day and third straight. Tied at 2-2 in the first set, Cairo went on a 4-0 run to take it 6-2. He built another early lead in the second set and finished off a 6-3 win.
Nicholas Steiglehner clinched the match at No. 2 singles, extending his win streak to four matches. He raced out to a 3-0 lead in the first set against Matias Olivero and rolled to a 6-2 win before closing out the second set, 6-3.
Michigan wraps up the regular season next weekend, hosting Purdue on Friday (April 17) at 6 p.m. and Indiana on Sunday (April 19) at noon. Admission at the Varsity Tennis Center is free.
