FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Elizabeth Tapper of the University of Michigan women's track and field team finished eighth in the shot put at the NCAA Indoor Championships on Saturday (March 13) at the Randal Tyson Track Center to close out the indoor season.
Tapper entered the meet with the No. 10 mark of the season in the shot put after throwing a season-best 17.38 meters (57-0.25) at the Big Ten Championships. Her first throw of the day was just shy of that mark at 17.35 meters (56-11.25), placing her in fifth.
Her second attempt was not an improvement (17.25 meters, 56-7.25) and she slipped to sixth place with one more throw remaining in the preliminary round. Her third attempt of 17.46 meters (57-3.5) was her best of the day and a season best, putting her in eighth place to secure a spot in the final. Tapper fouled on all three finals attempts and finished eighth overall.
The junior earned All-America First Team honors and improved upon her 12th-place finish at the 2025 NCAA Indoor Championships.
Michigan will open the outdoor season at the UCF Black & Gold Invitational in Orlando, Fla., on March 20-21.
