
Wolverines Tied for Eighth After Day One of B1G Indoor Championships

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The University of Michigan women's track and field team ended day one of the Big Ten Indoor Championships tied for eighth place with six points on Thursday (Feb. 26) at Fall Creek Pavilion.
In the pentathlon, Chiamaka Odenigbo sat in 13th after the 60-meter hurdles before improving to seventh with 1,799 points following a solid high jump performance. Odenigbo fell to 12th after the shot put but moved into eighth with a personal best of 5.82 meters (19 feet, 1.25 inches) in the long jump. The graduate student finished in eighth place overall and scored one point for U-M after running 2:27.53 in the 800-meter run.
The distance medley relay of Stephanie Bertram, Sidney Green, Emmry Ross and Penelopea Gordon finished fifth with a time of 10:59.26, scoring four points.
Kourtney Rathke cleared 4.15m (13-7.25) to finish eighth and score one point for the Wolverines, while Iliana Downing finished ninth with a mark of 4.05m (13-3.5).
Sophomore Anjali Hocker Singh won her heat in the 5,000-meter run with a personal-best time of 16:23.44, finishing 15th overall.
The Wolverines will continue action at the Big Ten Indoor Championships on Friday (Feb. 27), starting at 11:30 a.m. with the weight throw at Fall Creek Pavilion.
