ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 17-ranked University of Michigan women's tennis team fell to No. 8 NC State, 7-0, on Sunday afternoon (Feb. 15) at the Varsity Tennis Center.
The Wolfpack claimed the doubles point with victories at Nos. 3 and 1 to take the early lead.
Michigan picked up momentum as singles play began, earning first-set victories from Reese Miller at No. 3 and Lily Jones at No. 1. Piper Charney and Emily Sartz-Lunde each rebounded from first-set losses to force decisive third sets at Nos. 2 and 5, respectively.
Despite pushing multiple courts deep into three sets, the Wolverines were unable to convert a point in singles as NC State secured all six matches to complete the 7-0 sweep.
Michigan heads on the road for the first time this season next Saturday (Feb. 21), traveling to Oklahoma State for an 11 a.m. CT match.
