ROSEMONT, Ill. -- University of Michigan volleyball graduate-student outside hitter Allison Jacobs was named to the Big Ten Volleyball Preseason All-Conference Team, the conference announced Thursday (July 24).
Jacobs is one of nine outside hitters to make the 20-person team. She becomes the first player to earn Preseason All-Conference honors under head coach Erin Virtue, with Jess Mruzik last receiving the honor in 2022.
Entering her sixth collegiate volleyball season, Jacobs has tallied 637 career kills with 438 digs. She started her career at UCLA before transferring to Michigan before her junior season in 2022. Jacobs played in 22 matches in her first season with the Wolverines, tallying 61 kills in 49 sets. After an injury forced her to miss the entire 2023 season, Jacobs earned All-Big Ten first-team honors in 2024 with 335 kills on a career-high .243 hitting percentage with 186 digs per set.
Through her first 20 games last season, she registered 19 double-digit kill games with a high of 25 twice. After returning from an in-season injury, Jacobs played only in the back row for the final three matches. Before the injury, she averaged 4.09 kills per set, which was sixth in the Big Ten.
In the preseason Big Ten coaches poll, Michigan was voted to finish 10th, the same position it finished last season.
Jacobs and the Wolverines open the season on the road in Cincinnati before their home opener on Tuesday, Sept. 2 against Eastern Michigan at Crisler Center. Tickets for the full home season are now on sale.
