ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Julia Fliegner of the University of Michigan women's tennis team collected another honor, receiving first-team Academic All-America honors from CSC on Tuesday (June 3). She is the second Wolverine in program history to earn a first-team nod, joining Kari Miller (2024), and the first U-M student-athlete this academic year to grab a spot on the first team.
Fliegner completed her illustrious career in the maize and blue with 113 singles wins, ranking fifth all-time. She won a career-high 33 singles matches this season, going 17-2 in dual matches. Fliegner went 16-2 at the top of the lineup and clinched Michigan's 4-0 win over No. 20 Oklahoma State to advance to the first Final Four in program history. She was the female recipient of the Big Ten Medal of Honor, becoming just the third women's tennis player to earn the prestigious award. Fliegner finished the season ranked No. 5 in singles while coming in as high as No. 2 during the season.
Fliegner cemented her All-America status on the tennis court by reaching the semifinals of the 2024 NCAA Singles Championship, becoming just the second Wolverine to advance that far. Fliegner earned All-Big Ten honors in each of the last three seasons, culminating in being named the 2025 Big Ten Player of the Year. She helped Michigan to three Big Ten championships and three Big Ten Tournament titles over the last four seasons.
She graduated in May with a bachelor's in business administration (BBA) from the Ross School of Business. Fliegner will attend law school at Michigan in the fall.
