
Four Wolverines Win Bronze Medal at U18 World Championship

FRISCO, Texas -- Rising sophomore Will Horcoff of the University of Michigan men's hockey team and three incoming Wolverines captured the bronze medal at the IIHF U18 Men's World Championship on Saturday (May 3).
Asher Barnett captained the team to a medal, along with alternate captain Cole McKinney and Drew Schock IV.
Schock was also named to the Media All-Star team as one of the top two defensemen at the tournament. Schock averaged a point per game with two goals and five assists in his seven appearances. He finished a +5 while playing 19:59 minutes per game. Fellow defenseman Barnett tallied two goals, including the game-winner against Latvia in the quarterfinals, and picked up four assists and was a +7 in 19:22.
McKinney was third on the team in scoring, with three goals, two assists and a +4 rating in 17:53. Horcoff collected four points on two goals -- including the game-winner against Czechia -- while chipping in two assists. He was a +7 in 15:43.
Sixty Wolverines have competed at the U18 Men's World Championship since the tournament began in 1999, with 51 medals awarded to them.
Next up internationally is the Men's World Championship in Sweden and Denmark, beginning on Friday (May 9). At this time, five Wolverines have been selected by their countries, including Matty Beniers, Frank Nazar II and Zach Werenski for the U.S. as well as Adam Fantilli and Kent Johnson for Canada.
