
Four Wolverines Earn CSC Academic All-District Recognition

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Malia Amuan, Kiarra Milligan, Ella Jo Piersma and Letitia Sim of the University of Michigan women's swimming and diving team were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team on Tuesday (April 1). To receive the award, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and maintain a minimum 3.50 cumulative grade-point average.
Amuan is a junior pursuing a degree in statistics and is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten honoree. She was a key member of Michigan's 800-yard freestyle relay team that captured the Big Ten title and set a new meet record with a time of 6:52.04.
Milligan, a junior majoring in psychology, earned Academic All-District honors for the second straight season. The Brisbane, Australia native had a standout year for the Maize and Blue, advancing to the consolation final of the three-meter dive at the NCAA Championships and earning All-America second team honors.
Piersma is a junior pursuing a degree in business administration and has also earned Academic All-Big Ten honors twice. She had a breakout junior season, reaching the championship finals in both the 100- and 200-yard butterfly at the Big Ten Championships and scoring 60 individual points at the meet.
Sim, a junior majoring in applied exercise science, is a two-time Academic All-Big Ten selection. Returning to Ann Arbor after an Olympic redshirt season, Sim strengthened Michigan's breaststroke group and helped the Wolverines win the conference title in the 200-yard medley relay.
