ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- J. Ira and Nicki Harris Family Head Women's Basketball Coach Kim Barnes Arico announced Tuesday (April 15) the additions of Kendall Dudley and Ashley Sofilkanich to the University of Michigan women's basketball program for the 2025-26 season. Dudley will have three years of eligibility, with Sofilkanich having two years remaining.
"We are so excited with the year we had and the players who are returning, along with our incoming freshman class," Barnes Arico said. "We knew we needed to get some experience in a few different areas, so we were really able to target players who are a perfect fit for what we do. Kendall and Ashley both bring so much versatility with their skill sets, and they will allow us to keep playing how we want to play."
Dudley, a 6-foot-2 wing, joins the Wolverines after spending her freshman season at UCLA, reaching the 2025 Final Four with the Bruins. She appeared in all 37 games, starting once. Dudley played a season-high 23 minutes against Pepperdine (Nov. 12) and scored a season-best nine points against Fresno State (Nov. 30). Ranked No. 18 in the class of 2024, Dudley was the first female high school player to commit live on ESPN. A McDonald's All-American out of Sidwell Friends School in Washington D.C., Dudley also holds a gold medal as part of USA Basketball from the 2021 FIBA Americas U16 team.
"Kendall was arguably one of the best players coming out of high school last year, being named a McDonald's All-American," Barnes Arico said. "She played with Olivia (Olson) with USA Basketball, played with Syla (Swords) in last year's All-America game. She gives us that positionless player who can grab a rebound and lead the break. She can face up and knock down threes. She can take you off the bounce and is a phenomenal cutter. She does a little bit of everything and her versatility is exactly what we are looking for."
Sofilkanich, a 6-foot-3 forward, comes to Ann Arbor after two seasons at Bucknell. This past season, she was named the Patriot League Player of the Year after averaging 19.7 points and 8.4 rebounds in 32.0 minutes per game. Sofilkanich was named the USBWA National Player of the Week (Jan. 28) after scoring 44 points against Colgate (Jan. 22), tied for the eighth-most scored by a women's basketball player this past season. She earned a spot on the Patriot League all-defensive team in both of her seasons at Bucknell, while grabbing all-rookie team honors last year after going for 12.5 points and 6.3 rebounds per game.
"Ashley is coming off a phenomenal year where she did nearly everything for her team," Barnes Arico said. "She had a 40-point game, she gets double-doubles, she was the Patriot League Player of the Year. She gives us more depth in the post position, which is something we really need. She has the ability to score around the rim in a variety of ways with her length, giving us something we didn't have last year. I think she is someone who is just scratching the surface of what she can do and can't wait to see how she continues to grow as a player in our program."
Michigan returns three starters from last year's 23-11 team in Mila Holloway, Olivia Olson and Syla Swords. With the addition of Dudley, Michigan has three McDonald's All-Americans on next year's roster, as well as three of the top 20 players from the high school class of 2024.
